Investing in New Europe – A legal guide for investors

This legal guide is aimed at investors who wish to invest in Central and Eastern Europe and carry on business there. The countries covered in this guide comprise all of the major economies in Central Europe which have joined the European Union: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, which are collectively referred to in this Guide as “New Europe”. Key topics covered in the guide include: restrictions on foreign investment, types of investment structures, regulation of corporate entities and publicly traded companies, raising finance, competition and merger controls, tax, employment law, intellectual property, money laundering and anti-corruption laws, dispute resolution, Bilateral Investment Treaties and currencies.


This guide has been put together by the Central European offices of Clifford Chance with support from Boyanov & Co. in respect of Bulgaria and Lakatos, Köves and Partners in respect of Hungary.
