Antitrust developments in China and Asia (Apr 2015)

Overview

Now in its eighth year of enforcing China’s Anti-Monopoly Law (AML), MOFCOM has emerged as an increasingly experienced and self-confident organisation ready to make its first transition to a new Director General later this year.

The other enforcers – NDRC and SAIC – have only recently stepped up antitrust enforcement activity, with huge leaps in the value of fines they imposed in 2014 in comparison with previous years. 2015 looks to be a decisive year in terms of how their practices develop.

Yong Bai, Associate in Beijing/Brussels, discusses the latest antitrust developments in China and the rest of Asia.

Chris Bates describes the broad principles behind the new EU regulations on short selling
